Our Love Story
We’re
just a plain couple who loves doing things together. J
CJ’s POV
It all started back in 2008 I was on my 5th month in the company (APC by Schneider Electric). I was already in the Business Systems team, a level 2 technical support, when Gem joined the new hire training. I was busy during those days since I was finishing up the certifications needed. One day, Gem’s batch went out for an after-work gimik (I think they just graduated from the new hire training that time) when me and my colleagues joined their group. It was our first time being in a group but no talks happened between us. Days and weeks passed by and still nothing, though we say hi to each other casually. One day, Gem transferred a call to the second level team and I was the person who received that call. I started a small talk and that became a habit whenever I’m receiving a call from her. Eventually we started having conversations thru pings via sametime too, talking about almost anything. We discovered that both of us are into music and car stuff. We talked about plans in life and what not. One Saturday evening, we finally decided to go out for a dinner before seeing a movie. Not sure if you can call it a date since everything was casual. Since then, we started getting the same set of work schedule so we can go to work together and go home at the same time as well. We both enjoyed eating breakfast before heading back home each day. Then came March 21, 2009 when both of us admitted of having feelings for each other. At first it was really challenging because despite of those things that we love to do, marami parin naging adjustments between us. Gem loves to visit places she had never been to while CJ is a home buddy who loves to hang out with his cousins and friends. I only go to malls if I needed to buy something while Gem simply likes malling kahit walang bibilin. I was in a relationship pa during those days but It was really complicated na and told her that I will fix things up for our relationship, which I did! Another thing was the religion. Gem is a Church of Christ (Iglesia ni Cristo) member and me being a Roman Catholic. She was able to convince me to attend Iglesia ni Cristo doctrines to learn the church teachings. I became very much interested with the teachings and was able to finish the doctrines. I continued attending church services and finally decided to officially be a member of Iglesia ni Crist. I was baptized back in 2010. Gem loves to cook food and I’m her number one fan. CJ loves it when gem gives him surprises even in the simplest way. We both love eating out good food, looking for new gadgets, staring at really nice cars and car parts, seeing movies and fashion (shopping), or simply just going to a mall and magpalakad lakad, window shopping LOL. If there are things or activities that CJ wants to do, Gem is always there to support him (e.g biking, going at the gym and the likes). CJ on the other hand, never fails to surprise gem especially during those important dates all throughout the year. Gem is my personal nurse whenever I’m sick. She’s the one taking care of me. Buying me medicine and making asikaso of me when I’m weak and so sick to get up. I always make kulit of her every single day, maybe it’s my way of making lambing of her. We never had any break ups nor cool offs because we always find ways to talk about things that made us both mad. I will never have a successful career without her. Why? Coz she’s the one pushing me to do things that I’ve never done before. Always saying not to give up and fight for what I want in life and career. Of course I’m doing the same thing for her. She is my bestfriend, my personal nurse, my adviser, fashion critic, my cook, my girlfriend and soon to be wife.
Gem’s POV
I met him in my new work back in 2008. I actually consider working in that office for a short period of time only since I still have plans of working abroad, as a nurse. I wasn’t even taking my job too seriously that time. One thing that I’m also not into was having that “someone” in my life. I just had a bad break up and having a special someone is the last thing on my mind. I met him at work during our “graduation” as a trainee celebration at Island Cove. My first impressions of him were maporma, feeling, pacute and feeling gwapo dahil naka Honda civic. LOL. He was actually being teased to one of my close co-trainee and he even texted her trying to be friendly. Funny thing is I said things like, wag ka na dun he looks feeling, too young and pacute for me. I don’t know he just wasn’t my type. Days passed by and I even forgot about that comment but since we’re officemates, I still see him and we even greeted each other whenever we bump to each other in the hallway.
Our personal talks actually started when I transferred a call and he got it. Most of the agents that I would transfer a call to will accept the endorsement professionally and take it from there…well, it was not the case with him. He stayed on the line talked to me for a few more minutes before he told me to transfer the call over. As I recall, it was the routine for the next few calls that I transferred. Sometimes, he would even ask my seatmate to greet me hi/hello for him. I was like, ano bay un dyahe :p. Then he would ping me about work stuff and encourage me to finish the dreaded certification because I was on the brink of giving up. I just realized later on that it was a para-paraan move to get to talk to me LOL. Anyways it worked din naman since I was really able to finish my certification which I thought I can’t. It was too technical for my Nurse-like mind.
It also took him a while to text me. I didn’t mind talking to him the whole day at work whenever I’m on avail since it was fun and I can already say that time na we’re really very close already but I didn’t expect anything more than that because,.. here’s the catch, he has a girlfriend na . Err but I did appreciate his honesty. ( megaknown!?? Lol )
We would talk about relationship, life, priorities our families and the things that we like. Those were the times when I came to realize that he’s not just puro pacute or mayabang. He’s actually shy, torpe and super OC.
Next thing I knew was that we’re finally admitting our feelings for each other. He did say he would fix everything but I didn’t really put my faith on it. I just let things happen.
Being an INC member I’ve been praying that I would meet someone with the same faith as mine, aside from someone who I can confide too, share happy thoughts with, help me with my problems.. etc ( the list indeed goes on), the most important for me is we should share the same faith. One thing that made me lose faith in having a lasting relationship is due to my religion. I know in my heart and faith that I wouldn’t yield when it comes to religion. It’s either he converts or I would eventually break up with him. Something only an INC member would understand why. Also, I believe that a good husband is a blessing from God. That’s why I know that as long as I keep my faith strong, he will give me “the one”. Another thing, I told him we would be forever “illegal” to my parents unless he converts. He can’t go to my
house or anything close to that as long as he’s not an INC member. Crazy, but that’s how my life is. It took us one sitting/talking and the next thing I know, he’s already meeting my parents and attending church doctrines.
Surprisingly, he was really able to work out every issues that we had during the first months of our relationships. Just when I’m almost losing hope and faith that I would find someone.. he came. Aww! :D
